## Scope

California, United States. The state architect's interpretation says the architect or engineer in general responsible charge of a school project is responsible for seeing that completed construction conforms to the approved plans and shall perform listed duties under the building code, including making observations of construction, evaluating non-conforming construction and materials and deciding on acceptability or corrections, and responding to requests for information from contractors and inspectors. Revised 11 September 2019. Public school projects only; the duty falls on an architect or an engineer.

## What this means

On public school sites in California, judging built work against the design stays with a named professional.

## What it does not show yet

Public school projects only, and shared between architects and engineers.

## How to verify it yourself

Open DSA's IR A-24 and find "Evaluate non-conforming construction and/or materials and make decisions regarding acceptability".
