## Scope

Alberta, Canada. The regulator's practice advice, written for registered nurses and nurse practitioners, says digital health should not replace a registrant's assessment, clinical judgement or diagnostic reasoning, or prescribing, that robotics and AI may assist but do not decide, and that registrants retain accountability for assessments, decisions and outcomes when AI or robotics are used; it also asks them to scrutinise AI-powered decision-support recommendations. It is practice advice worded mostly as 'should', covering registered nurses as well as nurse practitioners, and it is not evidence that any tool is in use.

## What this means

In Alberta, examining a patient and prescribing stay with the nurse practitioner even where AI is used.

## What it does not show yet

Practice advice rather than a binding standard, and it shows no tool actually in use.

## How to verify it yourself

Open the CRNA document 'Artificial Intelligence: Practice Advice' and find "robotics and AI may assist but does not decide".
