## Scope

India. The court's own white paper says AI-based transcription tools are used in the Supreme Court to capture oral arguments, particularly before Constitution Benches, as real-time text on courtroom screens, which are then uploaded to the court's website as a contemporaneous record; that a tool called TERES is deployed in the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court for multilingual transcription; and it recommends that AI transcription be used provided outputs are manually reviewed and verified. The recommendation is not a binding rule; no effect on stenographers is given.

## What this means

At India's highest court, the first draft of the record of hearings is made by AI, and the court says it should be checked by people.

## What it does not show yet

One court system's own account; nothing on accuracy or on court reporters' jobs.

## How to verify it yourself

Open the Supreme Court of India's White Paper on AI and Judiciary and find "AI-based transcription tools are being used in the Supreme Court".
