## What this means

A pilot record on both linked tasks at national scale for a small country: every upper-secondary school, about 4,900 teachers given ChatGPT and Gemini with training, over 60% using them weekly. It shows the deployment conditions for lesson preparation being tested in real classrooms, and — because a student-facing tutor app opened in the same programme — the 'deciding what students use and checking what it taught them' task arriving as an actual duty rather than a prediction.

## What it does not show yet

The impact study is not out, so 'over 60% weekly' is usage, not learning outcomes or hours saved; the tools were given to teachers, so it does not show what teachers choose when they must buy access themselves. Grades 10–11 in Estonia — unusual digital infrastructure, 20,000 students in the cohort — are not a template for primary schools or large systems, and the student app had only 47% weekly use among activated accounts.

## How to verify it yourself

Ask your head of department whether your school has a written policy on which AI tools students may use in coursework and who checks their output; if none exists, the orchestration task in this record has not been assigned at your school yet, and lesson-preparation use is still a private choice you make.
