## Scope

Honolulu, residential building permits. The department says that since its launch in December more than 50 applications have used CivCheck, an AI-guided pre-check of plans before submission, and reports 7.7 corrections on average against 23.5, review time cut from 73 to 32.5 days and review cycles from 3.4 to 1.4. Its footnote says the figures compare 19 CivCheck-processed residential permits with 17 that did not use it; applicants chose whether to use it, so this is not a controlled comparison. Applications still go through the department's official review.

## What this means

Where a building department runs an AI code check before submission, the drafter's corrections arrive earlier and in one batch instead of over three review rounds; someone still has to make them.

## What it does not show yet

One city, residential projects only, 19 permits against 17 that applicants chose themselves; it says nothing about drafters' jobs or about commercial work.

## How to verify it yourself

Open the Honolulu DPP announcement 'DPP Launches Priority Review to fast-track permits using CivCheck' and find "A 67% reduction in corrections".
