Evidence stage
DeploymentAn employer has put it into production. Can move the baseline — weighted by scale and how similar the setting is.
Tasks this bears on
Complex and large risks
Applicants with medical history, large sums insured, unusual properties and commercial risks that need reading, questions and judgement.

Where this applies
The insurer's own investor-day slides, filed with the SEC. They say AIG Underwriter Assistance is live in production in Financial Lines, Private Not-for-Profit, and quickly scaling to the rest of its businesses; the workflow shown is AI extracting submission data, analysing and summarising submissions and analysing risk factors to reprioritise them, then the underwriter analysing the AI output before quoting and binding; extracted values are confirmed or corrected by the underwriter; and the turnaround to underwriter review falls from about three to four weeks to under a day. The slides claim increased underwriter capacity without additional staff — a company claim, with no headcount given. It is commercial specialty lines, not life or personal insurance.
What this means
For complex commercial risks, one of the largest insurers has put AI in front of the underwriter rather than in place of one: the machine reads, extracts and ranks the file, and the underwriter still analyses it and decides. The reading work is moving to machines; the decision is not.
What it does not yet show
The insurer's own presentation with no headcount; 'without additional staff' is a claim, and it covers one business line to start.
What you can check
Open AIG's Investor Day 2025 exhibit (8-K, 31 March 2025) and find "AIG Underwriter Assistance is Now Live in Production".
Does it change the assessment?
No. The impact index is never moved by a single event. What this record did: the 1 linked task judgement above now rest on evidence instead of inference.
