Philips EPIQ and Affiniti systems: 'Automates some routine ultrasound measurements', with Auto-Measure 'automating some of the measurements needed to complete a routine transthoracic echo (TTE) exam for adult patients'. Canon Aplio systems 'generate automated measurements of imaged structures'; Siemens Sequoia 'provides automated measurements of imaged structures'; GE Logiq E10 'detects kidney dimensions' to reduce procedure times; GE Voluson (obstetrics and gynaecology) gives 'recommended image contours'. Each entry is one type of machine in one health system; there are no counts of examinations, sites or users, and nothing about how much of each examination the automated measurements replace or who checks them.
What this means
In one of the largest US health systems, the ultrasound machines themselves now take some of the routine measurements — parts of a standard heart echo, organ and structure sizes — and the systems are listed as deployed AI. The sonographer's measuring work is being shared with the machine.
