Where this applies
The New South Wales building regulator's own page for the Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW), which a licensed electrician issues after electrical work. From 1 July 2026 all CCEWs must be submitted through the regulator's eCert portal; the PDF form, email and hard-copy book forms are no longer accepted. The regulator's companion guide says some electrical-industry business software is integrated with eCert through an API, so electricians can create the certificate in their normal job software and submit it straight to the regulator. It changes how the certificate is filed and who can pass the data along, not who certifies: the certificate remains the electrician's. The underlying regulation itself was not read for this record.
What this means
Filing an electrical certificate in New South Wales is now a digital submission, and job software can send it straight to the regulator. The paperwork half of certification is being wired into software; the signature stays with the electrician.
