Where this applies
Singapore. The manpower ministry announced an increase in maximum fines for safety breaches and the mandatory installation of video surveillance systems at construction sites with a contract sum of $5 million and above, from 1 June 2024, covering high-risk work such as work at height, lifting and excavation. The regulation requires cameras to be installed and footage kept; the ministry's own guidance says live monitoring and video analytics are not mandatory, and AI solutions are funded rather than required. It does not establish that AI detects hazards or that any safety role is replaced.

The state now requires cameras over the most dangerous site work, and pays towards AI that watches them — but it does not require the AI, and the person responsible for safety on site is still the one who acts on what the camera shows.
