Evidence stage
DeploymentAn employer has put it into production. Can move the baseline — weighted by scale and how similar the setting is.
Tasks this bears on
Compounding and sterile preparation
Preparing sterile, intravenous and chemotherapy doses, and compounding medicines that are not available ready-made.
Being augmented✓ Evidence-backed
Where this applies
United States, one community cancer centre in Tennessee. Of 8,210 doses, 52.1% were made by the APOTECAchemo robot; of 25 failed doses, 8 (0.2%) were attributed to the robot and 17 (1%) to manual compounding, and the average dose preparation time was longer with the robot than with manual methods. The authors declared no conflicts. It is one site and one product.
What this means
A second site, twelve years later, finds the same pattern: the robot is more accurate and slower. Half the doses were still made by hand, so the person at the hood remains part of the work.
What it does not yet show
One community site and one product; it does not report staffing.
What you can check
Open PMC11536520 and find "The average dose preparation time was longer with APOTECAchemo".
Does it change the assessment?
No. The impact index is never moved by a single event. Nor did this record change a layer: all 1 linked judgement above already rested on earlier evidence. This one adds to them.
