A survey of 91 animation, postproduction and visual effects studios between 7 April and 11 June 2026 reports that 97.0% of visual effects studios have used AI tools; among those using AI, 71.0% of visual effects studios apply it to rotoscoping and compositing assistance, 74.2% to landscapes and set extension and 48.4% to capturing and modifying faces, while 48.3% of animation studios using AI apply it to rotoscoping and compositing and 31.0% to character animation. Only 47.7% of animation studios are satisfied with the tools. The agency warns that the small, changing sample makes comparisons with earlier waves uncertain; it measures studio-reported use, not jobs.
