Where this applies
United States, animation studios covered by the Animation Guild's contract. The agreement says producers may require employees to use any AI system or its output in covered work; that producers will not require an employee to provide prompts in a manner that results in the displacement of any covered employee; and that a producer shall give advance written notice to an employee who might be asked or required to use a generative AI system. It is one collective agreement for one set of employers.
What this means
For animators at unionised US studios, AI is a tool the studio may require, with limits on using it to displace people and a right to notice.
What it does not yet show
One collective agreement in the US; it does not cover freelancers or other countries, or measure employment.
What you can check
Open the Animation Guild's fully executed 2024 Memorandum of Agreement and find "Producer may require employees to use any AI System".
Does it change the assessment?
No. The impact index is never moved by a single event. Nor did this record change a layer: all 1 linked judgement above already rested on earlier evidence. This one adds to them.
