CapabilityA demo, benchmark or paper shows the task can be done. Updates what the technology can do — not what employers will do.
Tasks this bears on
Mowing and routine turf care
Cutting grass in parks, sports fields, campuses and roadsides on a regular schedule.
Automating✓ Evidence-backed
Where this applies
A peer-reviewed study that tested 19 models of robotic lawn mowers in collisions with hedgehog cadavers. Some models could injure hedgehogs while others were not harmful, and apart from one incident all mowers had to physically touch the carcasses to detect them. The authors designed a standardised safety test. It measures a limit of unattended mowing, not use by grounds workers.
What this means
Robotic mowers still mostly find small animals by bumping into them.
What it does not yet show
Tests on cadavers with domestic-type mowers; commercial models and later versions may differ.
What you can check
Open the Animals study (doi 10.3390/ani14010122) and find "had to physically touch the hedgehog carcasses".
Does it change the assessment?
No — and this stage does not move it either. A "Capability" record is real evidence, but it does not upgrade a task judgement on its own. The 1 linked judgement above stand where they were.
