Home blood-pressure self-monitoring with telemonitoring did not detect high blood pressure sooner than clinic checks in 2,441 higher-risk pregnant women, the BUMP 1 trial found

Evidence stage
PilotSmall-scale trial in a real setting. Tells us the deployment conditions are being tested, not that they hold — so one pilot is never enough on its own; two independent ones are.
Tasks this bears on
Antenatal care and risk assessment
Checking the mother and baby through pregnancy, spotting risks such as high blood pressure or reduced movements, and referring when needed.
Being augmented✓ Evidence-backed
Where this applies
England, 15 hospital maternity units. 2,441 pregnant individuals at higher risk of pre-eclampsia were randomised to blood-pressure self-monitoring with telemonitoring or usual care; the time to clinic-recorded hypertension was not significantly different, and the authors conclude self-monitoring did not lead to earlier clinic-based detection of hypertension. A trial of home monitoring alongside, not instead of, antenatal visits.
What this means
Home monitoring did not take over spotting high blood pressure in pregnancy; antenatal checks still found it as early.
What it does not yet show
One trial in England of one kind of home monitoring; it does not cover other antenatal checks.
What you can check
Open PubMed 35503346 (JAMA, 2022) and find "did not lead to significantly earlier clinic-based detection".
Does it change the assessment?
No. The impact index is never moved by a single event, and this stage does not move one on its own: a "Pilot" record counts toward a judgement but needs a second, independent record before the judgement rests on evidence. This one is counted; on its own it changed nothing.
