Evidence stage
ConstraintFailure, rollback, regulation or cost is suppressing adoption. Can lower an assessment or widen its uncertainty.
Tasks this bears on
Managing swallowing problems
Assessing swallowing at the bedside or with imaging, choosing safe food textures and teaching swallowing techniques.
Being augmented✓ Evidence-backed
Where this applies
New Jersey, United States. The adopted rule says FEES shall only be performed by a licensed speech-language pathologist who is certified in basic life support and has completed training including 25 supervised procedures at a licensed healthcare facility. Effective 3 October 2005. Read in the adoption notice; the current code text was not checked, and it says nothing about bedside screening or diet decisions.
What this means
In New Jersey, the instrumental swallowing examination is legally a licensed clinician's work.
What it does not yet show
Read in the 2005 adoption notice, not the current code.
What you can check
Open the New Jersey rule adoption for N.J.A.C. 13:44C-7.2A (October 2005) and find "FEES shall only be performed by a licensed speech-language pathologist".
Does it change the assessment?
No. The impact index is never moved by a single event. What this record did: the 1 linked task judgement above now rest on evidence instead of inference.
