Where this applies
Texas, United States. The enrolled bill says a health care practitioner, defined as an individual licensed, certified or otherwise authorised to provide health care in the state, may use artificial intelligence for diagnostic purposes, including recommendations on a diagnosis or course of treatment, only if acting within their licence, the use is not otherwise prohibited, and the practitioner reviews all records created with AI to the medical board's standards; a practitioner who does so must disclose it to patients. It covers every licensed practitioner, not nurse practitioners alone, and conditions use rather than measuring it.
What this means
In Texas, AI can help with a diagnosis only with a licensed person reviewing it and answerable for it.
What it does not yet show
A condition on use for all licensed practitioners; it says nothing about how widely AI is used.
What you can check
Open the enrolled text of Texas S.B. 1188 and find "the practitioner reviews all records created with artificial intelligence".
Does it change the assessment?
No. The impact index is never moved by a single event. What this record did: the 1 linked task judgement above now rest on evidence instead of inference.
