California lets registered technicians give and score tests only under a psychologist's direct supervision, and bars them from choosing or interpreting tests

Evidence stage
ConstraintFailure, rollback, regulation or cost is suppressing adoption. Can lower an assessment or widen its uncertainty.
Tasks this bears on
Giving standardised tests
Administering cognitive, personality and educational tests under their standard conditions.
Still human-led✓ Evidence-backed
Where this applies
California, United States. The code says a registered psychological testing technician may administer and score standardised objective tests and observe and describe test behaviour, but shall not select tests, interpret results, write test reports or give feedback to clients; and that all technician services shall be provided under the direct supervision of a licensed psychologist. Operative 1 January 2024. It allows a supervised technician to give the test; it says nothing about computerised administration.
What this means
In California, giving a test can be delegated only to a registered person working under the psychologist, and choosing and interpreting it stays with the psychologist.
What it does not yet show
One state's licensing law; it does not address software that administers tests.
What you can check
Open Business and Professions Code Article 10 (sections 2999.100 to 2999.105) and find "shall be provided under the direct supervision of a licensed psychologist".
Does it change the assessment?
No. The impact index is never moved by a single event. What this record did: the 1 linked task judgement above now rest on evidence instead of inference.
