Evidence stage
Labour impactVerifiable change in hiring, headcount, hours or job scope. Highest weight — but causal attribution still has to be argued, not assumed.
Tasks this bears on
Programming and maintaining the robots
Teaching a robot a new path, adjusting the vision system, running preventive maintenance on the line's automation.

Where this applies
Mainland China, and the occupational classification only. It establishes that the authority of record judges the work of putting embodied-AI robots into use to exist as a distinct occupation — not how many people do it, where, or at what wage, and not that any factory has deployed such robots. The same notice adds work-types including 'agent developer' and 'low-altitude logistics operator'. It is a 公示 open for comment to 17 July 2026, following a call for submissions opened in September 2025; at this date the categories were proposed rather than written into the national occupational catalogue. A new category is a signal about the work that grows around robots, and says nothing on its own about the assembly jobs beside them.
What this means
The work that grows around robots is being given a name and a code before most factories have the robots. If you are on a line, the nearest new job to you may be the one that installs, teaches and fixes the machine rather than the one it replaces.
What it does not yet show
It is a classification, not a deployment: it names no factory, no robot count and no headcount, and it does not say that assembly jobs beside these robots are going away or staying. The categories were out for comment, not yet in the national catalogue.
What you can check
Ask whoever maintains the machines in your plant how they were trained and who they work for — the equipment vendor, an integrator, or your own employer. That answer tells you whether this new category is a job at your site or a contract at someone else's.
Does it change the assessment?
No. The impact index is never moved by a single event. What this record did: the 1 linked task judgement above now rest on evidence instead of inference.
