Baidu's own quarterly disclosure. Cumulative public rides passed 22 million by April 2026 and the service was in 27 cities by May 2026, across mainland China and overseas markets including Dubai; the release reports over 330 million autonomous kilometres, of which over 220 million fully driverless. It gives ride counts, not revenue per ride, utilisation or subsidy levels, and says nothing about the number of drivers in the cities it operates in.
What this means
Scale here is not a pilot question any more. Weekly rides above 350,000 and 3.2 million fully driverless rides in a single quarter put the Chinese market ahead of anything in the site US records on volume, and the fleet has run over 220 million fully driverless kilometres. For a driver in one of those 27 cities, the relevant fact is that the service is already ordinary, not experimental.
What it does not yet show
Ride counts are not driver counts. The release reports no fare per ride, no vehicle utilisation and no subsidy level, so it cannot tell you whether this is displacing paid driving hours or buying share with money. Nor does it cover the whole of any city: robotaxi zones are drawn, and a driver working outside one is competing with a different market.
What you can check
Open the robotaxi app in your city and check whether your two most common pickup and drop-off points are both inside the service area, then compare its quoted price and wait time against a normal ride at the same hour. Coverage plus price at your hours is what decides whether this reaches your income, not the national ride count.
